Marie & Vincent Tricot
Frankreich / Auvergne
Originally from Anjou, Vincent first discovers the world of wine, specifically natural wine, in the Beaujolais when he helps Jo Cotton with the harvest. It was there in the Beaujolais that Marie and Vincent met, a fabulous region! In 2003, after several wine-related jobs in the south of France, they move to Auvergne where they are lucky enough to take over a vineyard that has been organic since 1971. They struggle for a few years to master winemaking without sulfite, but since 2011 they have been able to do without additives altogether. Tricot's wines are playful and simple in the positive sense of the term, buddy wine and shareable wine, which is exactly how they envision wine and make it accordingly. But watch out. Marie and Vincent's wines grow on fabulous terroir, argillaceous limestone interspersed with volcanic rock, the typical basalt of Auvergne soils that give the wine that energy that makes us feel so euphoric. It can be drunk on its own, but it's well worth sharing.
